》What do I wear?
Lingerie or a bra and panties is always a good choice but what you wear should be something that you feel good in. Consider your favorite dress, crop tops, boot shorts, an oversized sweater, stockings, knee high socks or fishnets! Don't forget to think about what jewelry you want to wear.
Please cut the size tags out of whatever you decide to wear. They can be edited out but it does take extra time, meaning you won't get your photos back as quickly. They do tend to show through some fabrics, even when they're tucked in.
》What do I do with my hair and makeup?
What vibe do you want for your final images? Do you want to look more natural, all glammed up or somewhere in between? Those same questions apply to your hair as well. Remember, this session is all about YOU.
Treat yo'self, boo! Go get your hair and/or makeup done professionally, if you want. I even have a couple amazing ladies that I can recommend to you. If you choose this route, I wouldn't recommend trying anything too drastic - I can't change your hair cut in editing and adjusting the color may call for extensive editing that will take longer and cost a little extra.
If you curl your hair, or have someone else do it, make the curls a little tighter than you'd usually do them. You'll be messing with your hair during the session and curls always fall out a bit after styling.
》Do I paint my nails?
Only if you want to. If you choose not to, that's totally fine, just make sure to make sure they're shaped nicely and clean.
A mani/pedi day is always a nice treat, or even just pamper yourself a little. If you choose to do either, or both, choose colors that will compliment your outfit choice.
Finally, if you choose to paint them, don't do so more than a couple days before your shoot. Chips can happen quickly!!
》What about body hair?
You do you, boo boo! If body hair is your thing then rock it!
However, if it's not your thing then let's talk about how to get rid of it. Laser hair removal is always an option, but I don't recommend starting it right before your session - you never know how your skin might react and there's (apparently) a shedding process. If you choose waxing, even just your eyebrows, do so at LEAST 3 days before the session. Waxing causes redness and irritation, which you don't want to try to cover for the session and editing away redness can sometimes take a while. Just shaving is totally fine, as well. If you decide to shave, do it the night before or morning of the session. Make sure to use a good razor and shaving cream to avoid razor burn!
》 Let's talk skincare!
• Tanning. I know, I know...it's hard being pale! I'm super pale and my tanning usually consists of burning and then being pale again but with more freckles. Trust me, soaking up the sun or jumping in a tanning bed is not worth the risk of burning, plus it's really bad for you! Other than the burn, crazy tan lines can be really hard to hide in editing and burns will make your posing difficult because you likely be in pain and your skin will feel tight.
Also, if you aren't already a spray tan user then I suggest not starting before the session. If you aren't super careful the can end up streaky or blotchy and often times look very orange on camera. If you absolutely cannot help yourself and just have to get the spray tan țhen do it several days before and follow the aftercare instructions to the T.
• Don't use any new skincare for at least 2 weeks prior to the session. I know you have the best intentions but 1 new product could potentially cause an allergic reaction, dryness, redness or breakouts, all of which will affect your confidence at your session.
• Keep your session in mind if you choose to schedule a new piercing or tattoo appointment and have them done well before the session or after. Both can (possibly) cause allergic reaction or simply just be red and/or puffy for several days. Tattoos go through that weird itchy, peeling process and those visible flakes will be difficult to hide in editing.
》Things to do for a few days leading up to the session:
• Pack your bag and make sure you have everything you want/need.
• Drink lots of water to promote a healthy glow and keep your skin and lips hydrated. Also, moisturize daily and use lip balm.
• Stretch! Just trust me on this one. You will be arching your back a lot and holding poses that your body is probably not used to. Stretching will help loosen up your muscles, making it easier for you to get into the poses and you'll be less likely to be sore afterwards.
》The night before:
• If you plan on shaving, you can do so now.
• Moisturize and hydrate!!
• Eat a good dinner but avoid anything that will cause you to bloat or be uncomfortable.
• Don't drink too much alcohol. One or two drinks is fine but hangovers can definitely be seen as well as felt. And you definitely don't want a massive headache or nausea for your shoot.
• Most importantly, get a good night's sleep!!
》The day of:
• Don't wear tight clothes or underwear. You want to avoid those pesky lines they leave behind!
• Eat!! But, again, avoid anything that will cause you to bloat or be uncomfortable.
• No deodorant. You don't want to see the residue in your armpits or on your outfits.
• Make sure you know where the session is located and plan on arriving around 15 minutes early.
I will post, or send you, a sneak peek within 24 hours and you will have your gallery available within 2 weeks or less!
